Anabelle asked...

I have become extremely anxious.

Tags: Anxiety , food

Recently, my partner suffered a tragedy and since that time I for some reason have become extremely anxious. It is slowly going, but mainly happens around food, such as going out to eat with people at restaurants etc. What can I do to be less anxious towards that and my partner?

The answer

Anxiety related to eating in public is more common than you might think. As you rightly say it is a stress-related condition and as such can be treated in a number of ways including with medication, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which is often effective for stress reactions or even counselling to explore the root cause of your stress and why your partner's tragedy has affected you so much. All these can be accessed via your GP.
