I'm looking for tips on nutrition during chemotherapy. I'd like ideas on foods that are soft (because of the mouth ulceration caused by the chemo) but highly nutritious.

The answer

What an excellent question. There are no special diets for those undergoing chemotherapy but anyone with cancer should do their best to eat a well-balanced, healthy diet and have a good calorie intake, as many cancers have a tendency to cause weight loss, with subsequent weakness both of the body and the immune system. Your GP can also prescribe food supplements which usually come in the form of high-calorie, balanced nutrition liquids in cartons. This would help with your particular problem of mouth ulcers.
