The answer

Your oncologist (the doctor that specialises in cancer treatments) will be able to advise you if this is true and safe for you to try. The articles you have read may have been reporting trials that have been done on animals. Further research would need to be done before the practice would be recommended to everybody. Fasting when one is seriously ill and undergoing such arduous treatments such as chemotherapy, could also be detrimental.
