  • Are you in the habit of rushing out of the house every morning with no breakfast? Something as quick as a packet of nuts and raisins or a banana will give your blood sugar levels a needed boost after the overnight fast.
  • If you're a parent, you're also a role model. Set a good example by improving your own eating and exercise habits – your children's habits will improve in turn as they copy your ways, sometimes without you even knowing it!
  • To help you sustain your new, healthier lifestyle, get the whole family involved so you have plenty of ongoing support and don't find yourself slipping during periods of upheaval or high stress.
  • If you're already eating the recommended five portions of fruit and veg a day, that's great, but you can still do even better – research shows that eating nine portions a day offers significant health benefits.
