Top tips to help you get your 5 a day

Eating a variety of fruit and vegetables boosts energy levels, as well as providing essential vitamins and minerals for optimum health.  Here are some tips to help you get your recommended 5 a day:

Make hearty vegetable soups packed with a variety of ingredients that you can take to work with you for lunch.

Smoothies count towards your 5 a day – try having one before work for a healthy start to the day. Be wary though, of pre-packaged versions which can be high in calories and may not use fresh ingredients.

Instead of visiting a snack machine during breaks, keep a few pieces of fruit on your desk and snack on them during the day.

If you’re eating out, order fruit based dishes for start and/or dessert, such as melon and fresh fruit salad. Ask for extra vegetables with your main meal, instead of chips or potatoes.
