Medical underwriting terms
There are a number of different medical underwriting terms available, depending on the size of your group and any current healthcare plans.
Fully underwritten
This requires each applicant to supply a medical declaration on the application and, in certain circumstances, a medical report. Treatments for pre-existing medical conditions are then excluded where necessary. Exclusions can be removed from the policy at the discretion of the underwriters.

Two year moratorium
The applicant does not complete a medical declaration prior to joining, but membership is on the understanding that treatment of all pre-existing medical conditions experienced during the last five years are only covered after being a member for two continuous years and after being free from all symptoms and treatment relating to that condition for one year. Eligible treatment for all new conditions is covered from the date of joining.

Medical history disregarded
This option, which is the most expensive, allows members of groups of at least 20 members and, when agreed, their family members, to be enrolled without any exclusions relating to their previous medical history. The policy with AXA PPP healthcare will be subject to AXA PPP healthcare's own general terms including the exclusions and limitations which are in the membership agreement.

Continued medical exclusions
This enables members to switch from another insurer and retain any medical underwriting that may have been applied by the previous insurer. Therefore we will not apply any new personal medical exclusions. However, the policy terms will be those of AXA PPP healthcare and therefore the benefits and limitations may differ from those of the previous insurer.
